What's on My Design Wall?
First up is a remake of our pattern called Kris Cross. This is a great pattern for a collection of fat quarters. The pattern comes with instructions for quilts in three different sizes. The finished block size is 9". Cindy DeUnger did the sewing for me. Didn't she do a great job? I sent her 15 fat quarters in an assortment of red, green, cream, and beige fabrics. Right now, the quilt has moved from the design wall to the long arm. We have already cut and assembled kits in all the fabrics shown. Once the quilt is done (hopefully this next week) we'll get some finished pictures up on our site along with kit pricing and ordering info. Customers on our electronic mailing list will get notified when the quilt is ready. To join our mailing list, see the subscription form on this page.
Next up is a quilt that is a reconceived version of a pattern called Pinwheel Tapestry that we retired quite a while back. There was nothing wrong with the pattern or the design. It was just that the quilt shown on the pattern cover featured fabric that looked dated. I guess I am on a red fabric theme because I used a lot of reds in this quilt along with blacks and browns. What I discovered in remaking this quilt is that I could get a lot of "bonus triangles" from the fabric cut away from the pinwheel blocks. I stitched them together into scrappy looking flying geese for a flying geese border. By the way, I still need to sew those borders together, and I am worried that the quilt may be getting a bit big! Hopefully, we will have this quilt kitted and ready for purchase soon.
See you next time!
