Designer Duo Finishing

Is it me or did this quilt along seem to fly by? The variety of fabric choices and the speed at which participants have sewn is impressive! Checking the Facebook group to see what's going on with everyone has become the favorite part of my day. Also, each day new quilters are joining the Facebook group, so there will be lots more fun sewing going on as they make their versions of the Designer Duo 2018: Kaleidoscope...Sarahs quilt simple border

Designer Duo Block Seven

Block Seven--the magical workhorse of our Designer Duo Kaliedoscope quilt. I doesn't really look like much, but when you alternate it with the other blocks, circles appear. Can you see them? Mind you, there is NO curved piecing in this quilt. The real key is this unit here. Whether you color the triangle or the spikes on either side of it, it will create the illusion of curves. Designer Duo QAL Block Six

Block Six marks the last pair of matched blocks in the Designer Duo 2018: Kaleidoscope quilt. I really love this block because it looks like it has layers. Make sure to check in with Sarah J Maxwell , Tiffany Hayes , and Karen O'Connor to see their versions and tips for Block Six. Also, don't miss all...Block 6

Designer Duo QAL Block Five

Can you believe we are already to Block Five in our quilt along? One more set of blocks to go after this one and then you will be working on the thirteen alternating blocks. If you have been sewing your "Let's Work Ahead" four-patches, you will be so, so, SO glad you did.  If you haven't been sewing those four-patches, you might want to squeeze a few in now and next week so that you can...Block 5

Designer Duo QAL Block Four + Seaglass Fabric Design Process

Block Four's construction is pretty straight forward. If you are making my Seaglass version, just be sure to consult page S-20 for "Tips on working With Directional Fabric." By the way, I did notice that I failed to change my "XXX" placeholder on page S-9, Step One. Seems no matter how many times I proof instructions, little things like this slip through. Arghhh! So for this installment, I thought I would talk about fabric design--or...Seaglass Original Watercolor
