2019 Designer Duo: Mix It Up is Almost Here!

May 17, 2019 is the kick-off date for this year's Designer Duo Quilt Along hosted by Sarah J Maxwell of Designs by Sarah J and me. MIX IT UP is the title of the quilt along for a good reason.  We each started with two different 18" blocks, and four different 6" blocks.  Then we each mixed in ANY eleven 12" blocks of our choosing. For my quilt I mixed together two of my fabric collections: Do...DesignerDuo 2 1 copy

Designer Duo Finishing

Is it me or did this quilt along seem to fly by? The variety of fabric choices and the speed at which participants have sewn is impressive! Checking the Facebook group to see what's going on with everyone has become the favorite part of my day. Also, each day new quilters are joining the Facebook group, so there will be lots more fun sewing going on as they make their versions of the Designer Duo 2018: Kaleidoscope quilt....Sarahs quilt simple border

Here's a "What If." What if we reversed the placement...Block 7

Designer Duo QAL Block Six

Block Six marks the last pair of matched blocks in the Designer Duo 2018: Kaleidoscope quilt. I really love this block because it looks like it has layers. Can't you picture it made up in other fabric combinations? Oh wait--our other designers did that for you. Make sure to check in with Sarah J Maxwell , Tiffany Hayes , and Karen O'Connor to see their versions and tips for Block Six. Also, don't miss all the...Block 6

Designer Duo QAL Block Five

Can you believe we are already to Block Five in our quilt along? One more set of blocks to go after this one and then you will be working on the thirteen alternating blocks. If you have been sewing your "Let's Work Ahead" four-patches, you will be so, so, SO glad you did.  If you haven't been sewing those four-patches, you might want to squeeze a few in now and next week so that you can zoom...Block 5
