A Red-trospective

As Fall Quilt Market is coming at us like a speeding locomotive, we, meaning the folks at Marcus Fabrics/Studio 37 and my fellow designers, want to share with you.  Each week has a designated theme and this week's theme is "favorite color". Along with fellow designers Pam Buda (Heartspun Quilts) and Karen Styles (Somerset Patchwork) my favorite color is RED. Color Love Block of the Month Coming Soon

Color Love--that's the name of my newest fabric collection with Marcus Fabrics.  Here's my sample yardage all laid out on my cutting table, ready to be put to work. Oh, my pretties! So there is already a plan for Color Love--a block-of-the-month quilt also called Color Love. Yesterday I worked on the  applique' blocks.  It was so easy to just peel and fuse the shapes in place and then buttonhole stitch around the patches. Now, mind......color love fabric photo

Clara's Pride

Quilting magazineIt's always so thrilling to see something I made in print! And on the cover! Can you see it peeking out from under the quilt on the far right?

Here is Clara's Pride which is in the Jan/Feb 2014 edition of McCall's Quilting. The blocks are large so they go together relatively quickly and there are only nine of them. The finished quilt is 70 1/2" square.

New Block Finished with a Hurt Finger

Okay, so the tree block I posted last time is not done.  I've been working on another quilt that I have to get done next week.  Then my laser printer had a snafu and paper wrapped around one of the rollers.  I painstaking pulled the paper off, but still can't get the darn thing to work.  The error light is still blinking and the screen flashes "jam in output bin." Getting there . .

This is one of the projects for the upcoming book, Away From Home: The Story of the Lowell Mill Girls, that just kept getting put on the back burner. And because I kept putting it aside, I seemed to loose my momentum. But last week I went to sew with my group and brought along the last of the sashing strips that needed appliqueing.
