I've had a few emails reporting that there's a bit of trouble with block three of Ode To The Blue & Grey. The pink and green 4-patch seems to be the trouble spot because it's coming out too small.
So today I remade the block to see what's going on with this pesky four patch that should be so easy! What I found was that it is indeed a bit too small.
Ideally, your four patch should measure 3 3/8".
Here's my fix. The way I see it, you have two options. If you want to use the "H" patches you've already cut, sew the four-patch together with a scant quarter inch seam. What this means is that you're not going to sew a full quarter inch, but a narrower seam.
The second option is to re-cut your pink and green squares to measure 2" square. Once your four patch is assembled, you might have to give it a shave so that the corner triangles fit.
For those of you who are ordering the fabric kits from us, let me know if you need additional fabric to make this correction. I'll pop it in the mail to you.
Please, please, please . . . do not hesitate to email me when you think there's a mistake in my directions! I work through the directions, striving to be so, so careful. Unfortunately, mistakes do slip through--or there are differences in sewing.
Whatever the case, please don't hesitate to contact me:)
